Tribut was the first domaine I visited during my trip to Chablis in March of 2013. Laurent Tribut married Rene Dauvissat's daughter Marie, and would be considered the quiet son in law. While the wines of R&V Dauvissat continually get the majority of the attention due to their extended family history, they both work together regularly in the same vineyards and follow the same mindset when it comes to care, harvest, winemaking, and aging their wines. Laurent owns about 11 acres of vines, seven of which make up the production of the AOC Chablis and one acre that produces his 'Cote de Lechet'. The quality for the price is such a pleasure.
The domaine includes holdings in three 1er crus; 'Beauroy', 'Cote de Lechet' and 'Montmains'. Yields are severely restricted in the vineyard, and pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals, used in conventional wine production, are unheard of. The grapes are handpicked and fermented in temperature-controlled enamel-lined tanks at fairly high temperatures. The juice is allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation. Elevage is in oak barrels, only 10% of them new.
