With family viticulture and winemaking roots traced back to 1720, the first official naming of Liger-Belair occurred in 1852. Current owner Thibault took the reins in 2001 after six years of oenology and vineyard training. The domaine has 7.25 hectares of vines in the appellations of Vosne Romanée, Clos Vougeot, Nuits St Georges, and Gevrey Chambertin. The Grand Cru of Richebourg is 0.55 hectares of vines planted in 1936 and is quite affordable compared to other producers of this famed vineyard. All their vines are cultivated under the organic practices of Ecocert. They age wines in barrel from 12-18 months using never more than 50% new oak and never fine or filter before bottling.
