The Holus Bolus label comes from our friends Peter Hunken and Amy Christine MW at Black Sheep Finds, also the producers of Hocus Pocus Pinot Noir, Genuine Risk, and Café Society Rosé and Grenache. Peter started his winemaking career at Stolpman in 2001 and was a co-founder of Piedrasassi. Amy is one of ten women in the USA that holds the Master of Wine designation, a process that took her seven years to accomplish. In other words, this duo has thorough wine knowledge, both domestic and abroad. The Sta. Rita Hills Syrah is sourced from a 5-acre planting near the edge of the appellation. It is a hill top vineyard that is exposed and battered by Pacific breezes and planted at high density, 3000 vines per acre. 25% whole cluster fermentation and aged for 15 months in 350L barrels with two and three vintages of use. The Wine Advocate states, “a seriously impressive effort, beautiful purity, integrated acidity and a clean, focused finish. It’s a high-class crowd-pleaser…” Pair with tri-tip, grilled eggplant, curried dishes, BBQ pork, or baked potatoes with white cheddar and chives.
