Dominique’s original historic family domaine is located north of Mâcon by about one hour in the Côte de Beaune and was established in the 1800’s. This domaine has holdings in the most sought-after Chardonnay vineyards in Burgundy. How historic? There are roads in Burgundy named after his ancestors. If you don’t have past experience with Dominique Lafon please trust us, his wines from the Côte de Beaune are highly sought after by collectors as not only a reference point for the vineyards he farms, but also as a pinnacle…just to taste them is a rarity in the course of a complete wine drinking existence. That brings us to his value selections from Les Héritiers and why this is such an important project. Here at Les Marchands we find high appreciation for wines that are a varietal reference point for their location (the vineyard, the sub-region, etc). The plain truth is that to experience the Mâconnais, these are your key bottles. Since being founded in 1999 Dominique Lafon has been committed to farming his Mâcon vineyard holdings with the same tireless effort as his Côte de Beaune vineyards, utilizing biodynamic practices, soil rejuvenation, yield control, and wise green harvesting. The whole operation is now looked after by Caroline Gon under the supervision of Dominique Lafon. Depending on the cuvée the wines are vinified partly in stainless steel, partly in large wooden foudres and partly in demi-muids holding 600 liters.
