Bettane & Desseauve's Guide to The Wines Of France:
"The whites have obvious class and demonstrate all the potential for white-wine production in Saumur. The reds, not to be outdone, capture a unique expression of Cabernet Franc that surpasses all expectations. This is a departure for the real or supposed spirit of Saumur, with a quality of fruit that puts them alongside the greatest wine in France, be they from Burgundy, the Languedoc or Bordeaux."
Having given up a career in law, the young Romaine Guiberteau has liberated this Domaine from the relative anonymity of co-op supplier and transformed it, seemingly in the blink of an eye, into one of the region's most respected sources of pungent, yet refined Cabernet Franc and thrilling, fleshy mineral-accented Chenin Blanc. Guiberteau is a devotee and careful observer, or puts it, of Clos Rougeard's Foucault Brothers, who of course made the Brézé terroir famous via their ultra rare white of the same name. He is the third generation at this Estate and oversees the now organic viticulture as well as all the winemaking responsibilities.
