Domaine Dujac was founded in 1967 when Jacques Seysses purchased 4.5 hectares from Marcel Graillet, a domaine that mainly sold fruit to negociants. Jacques worked at Domaine de la Pousse d'Or previously and had a challenge on his hands to revive the vineyards and establish a following, starting with his first release in 1969. The Seysses family was in the biscuit business so Jacques started establishing contacts at restaurants to show the wines and also acquired additional vineyard parcels in the Grand Crus of Echezeaux and Bonnes Mares.

Jacques earned that following and in 1999 he passed the daily operations to his sons Jeremy and Alec. The two have modified some criteria but generally work within a vintage to determine the percentage of whole cluster fermentation and new oak use. Depending on the vintage and the wine, the percentage of whole cluster changes and oak regiments can vary from 25%-100%.

The Domaine now holds 15.5 hectares (38 acres) in such prominent locales as Echezeaux, Bonnes Mares, Romanee St Vivant, Clos de la Roche, Clos St Denis, Charmes Chambertin, and Chambertin.
